This page explains how to request deletion of your Latchen account and the associated data.

How to request deletion

To request deletion of your Latchen account and your personal data, send an email to privacy@latchen.com from the email address associated with your Latchen account. Include the subject line "Account deletion request."

We will acknowledge your request within 7 business days and complete deletion within 30 days of acknowledgment.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove:

  • Your display name and email address
  • Your Pairi conversation history
  • Your shared memories with your pair
  • Calendar events synced into Latchen
  • Expense entries you created
  • Your pair relationship records
  • Authentication tokens and sessions

What is retained

Some data may be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons:

  • Backup archives: Encrypted backups may retain data for up to 30 days after account deletion before being purged.
  • Subscription records: If you had a paid subscription, transaction records are retained as required by tax and accounting regulations (typically 7 years).
  • Aggregated, anonymized analytics: Statistical data that does not identify you may be retained indefinitely.
  • Legal compliance data: Records required to respond to legal requests or comply with applicable law.

If you have a pair

Latchen pairs two users together. When you delete your account, your partner's account remains intact, but the shared content (Pairi conversations, memories, shared expenses, shared calendar events) will be removed because it cannot exist without both partners. Your partner will be notified and given the option to start a new pair.

If you were the paying subscriber

If your account had an active Latchen Plus subscription:

  • Subscription cancellation is handled separately through Apple App Store, Google Play, or your subscription management settings — please cancel there to stop billing.
  • Account deletion does not automatically cancel your subscription. We recommend canceling your subscription before requesting account deletion.
  • Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's policies, not Latchen's.

Confirmation

Once deletion is complete, we will send a confirmation email to the address that submitted the request. After confirmation, your account and personal data will not be recoverable.
